Will the fuse barrel be brought to the ground?

No, the fuse barrel will remain in the switch.

Is the apprentice allowed to put wire in their diddy bag or climbing belt?

No, wire must be pulled up in a separate bag supplied by the apprentice.

Can the new wire be stripped and brushed on the ground in rubber gloves before ascending the pole?

Yes, but you can’t work on the ground in you climbing tools and it must be done after start time.

Does any work on the ground require leather gloves?

Leather gloves must be worn during set up and up to the start time.

Can the apprentice start with rubber gloves on?

Rubber gloves must be put on after start time.

Is a voltmeter provided?

The apprentice will provide their own voltmeter.

Will the same one bolt clamp be reused or replaced?

The same clamp will be used.

Does the wire have to be taken out of the clamp and transformer before the new wire can be installed?

No, you can start on one or the other and finish that side.

Is there an order for removal and installation?

No there is no order.

Can the stick be left in the barrel ring during the climb?

No, the stick must be fully retracted during the climb.

Is the wire already skinned?

No, you will have to skin the wire.

Do you have to skin it in the air?

The wire may be skinned on the ground or in the air but may not be skinned in setup time.

Can the stick be on the ground?

The stick must be off the ground and off the body when opening and closing the switch.

Do you have to ring the eye when opening and closing the switch?

Yes, both opening and closing.

What is required to tell the judge when verifying the voltage for a bad neutral?

Verify that you are checking voltage and there appears to be a bad neutral.

What size nuts are on the transformer and one bolt?

Can the groundman help with switching and grounding?

The groundman can help switch. Not allowed on the pole until switching is completed.

Is there cable in the elbow or elbow arrestor like in the picture?

It will look just like pictured, with an elbow arrestor.

Any requirements on shotgun stick length used in switching?

Your company’s requirements on stick length.

What length of copper? Poly wire? Need to be skinned?

5ft length of poly wire and will have to be skinned, but not allowed in setup time.

Will climbers be allowed to climb together once transferred over the second pipe strap?

No, the only time climbers are allowed to move together is once they have reached the working position.

Does the phase opposite of the switch have to be covered?

Yes, both phases must be covered.

Does the two-way feed through and ground clamp have to be installed using a hot stick?

You can install the two-way feed through and the ground clamp by hand, but you must use a hot stick to move the elbow and install the elbow ground.
